The HEAL First Transnational Project Meeting
The first transnational project meeting of the HEAL – Healthcare Environment needs Accessible Language initiative took place on April 15, 2025, in Turin, Italy, bringing together all partner organizations for the first time in person. This marked a significant milestone in advancing inclusive communication in healthcare for d/Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
Participants reviewed key project goals and explored the findings from the initial research phase, which shed light on current practices and challenges across partner countries. These insights will inform the development of the project’s core outputs, including a dedicated website, an accessible learning platform, and a mobile application designed to support inclusive training for healthcare professionals.
The agenda included:
Research Preview
Presenting and discussing national-level findings to define a common understanding of current gaps in healthcare communication.
Resource Development
Outlining plans for the design of digital tools and educational materials tailored to vocational education and healthcare contexts.
Project Management
Addressing coordination, quality assurance, and administrative planning to support smooth implementation.
Next Steps
Establishing action points, partner responsibilities, and timelines for upcoming deliverables.
The meeting fostered a strong spirit of collaboration and laid the groundwork for future activities, reinforcing a shared commitment to making healthcare education more inclusive and accessible across Europe.
